(KMJ) – A 19-year-old Visalia man is charged with attempted murder for a February gang-related shooting.
Back on February 28th, Visalia police responded to the Riverway Sports Park, just north of Dinuba Boulevard and Riggin Avenue, around 3:30 p.m. for a shooting. Officers were told that an argument occurred between the victim and the suspect who was inside a vehicle.
The suspect, identified as 19-year old Samuel Cerda, pulled a handgun during the dispute and fired at the victim before driving off. No one was injured and the shooting appeared to be gang related.
Visalia police’s violent crimes unit conducted a follow up investigation into the shooting and identified Cerda as the shooter, Maurice said. He was later arrested March 12th for suspected firearm possession.
