Former Fresno Deputy Police Chief Foster Appears In Court

E Marshall Hodgkins III

(KMJ) – Former Fresno Deputy Police Chief Keith Foster was in Federal Court in Fresno on Monday.

Foster was in good spirits and surrounded by supporters for the regular status hearing, which gives all defendants a chance to see where they are in terms of discovery.

“Pages and pages” of discovery, according to his lawyer, E. Marshall Hodgkins, describing the potential evidence gathered by the feds.

There were 1900 wire tap conversations, 3600 pages of discovery, and more to come according to Hodgkins, with thousands of wiretapped conversations yet to be transcribed.

“I made it very clear to the court that I was still working – on regardless of the new discovery that’s going to come to us within the next 4-6 weeks – I was still working on what I still have, it is to say the least a very voluminous case.” – E. Marshall Hodgkins III, Defense Attorney.

Foster and six others were indicted on drug trafficking charges in March of 2015.

In April of 2015, Foster pleaded not guilty to charges he conspired to distribute marijuana – heroin – and oxycodone.

Foster’s next appearance will be on June 20th for another regular status conference.

Hodgkins says no jury trial date has been set.

If found guilty, Foster faces up to two and a half million dollars in fines, and as many as 45 years behind bars.
