(KMJ) – A man wanted for the murder of his Fresno County Jail cell mate is found, already in custody, in Oregon.
On January 21st , Fresno County Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives booked 54-year old Gary Poole of Fresno into the Fresno County Jail. Detectives recently learned Poole was an inmate at the Yamhill County Jail in Oregon. And he was scheduled to be released on January 10th. Detectives arrested Poole on January 8th and later had him transported to Fresno
Poole now faces felony charges of murder and drug possession. Poole was arrested for murdering Gary Stauff on April 10, 2014. The two men were cell mates at the Fresno County Jail.
A coroner’s report was needed in order for the District Attorney’s Office to be able to file the case. A forensic pathologist later determined Stauff died due to ligature strangulation. The completion of the final report allowed an arrest warrant to be issued for Poole.
