FRESNO (KMJ) — It might be getting colder but CAL FIRE are preparing for next year’s fire season and recruiting new members.
If you’re looking to get on board with one of the largest fire agencies in the world keep reading – but be warned – it’s a profession filled with both rewards and danger.
“From swift water rescue, to structure fires, to HAZMAT incidents, to wild land fires to medical aids”, says CAL FIRE Academy Administrator Brent Strangeland.
CAL FIRE are looking for seasonal firefighters to help support the regular firefighters when demand is high.
“CAL FIRE seasonal firefighter is the entry level position to becoming permanent with CAL FIRE”.
If you’re interested, Brent says the requirements are pretty straightforward.
“To be 18 years of age, to possess a High School Diploma, we also encourage that seasonal firefighters look into higher education at college, get their fire science technology courses done, and are highly motivated individuals”.
