FRESNO (KMJ) — A center which offers kids in Fresno County a chance to reach their full potential has opened today.

The three story – state of the art complex – sits on the intersection of Tulare and N Street in Downtown Fresno.

It’s called the Lighthouse for Children – and inside will be opportunity for kids up to the age of five – and their families – to be the best version of themselves. It’s operated by First 5 Fresno county – they say it’s a symbol of future success.

“On the first floor we have a high quality child development center”, says Executive Director Emilia Reyes. “On the second floor we have a community learning center. On our third floor we have community conferencing space, some meeting space, and we can’t forget about the 648 solar panels”.

“The Lighthouse for Children stands for hope, opportunity and potential for every child growing up in Fresno County and this building belongs to them”.

There’ll also be meeting space for community groups focused on improving the well-being of the county’s children – and the offices of First 5 Fresno County will also be moved there.

“This incredible community building is all about the kids”, says Chairman of First 5 Fresno County Commission, and Fresno County Supervisor Henry Perea. “Fresno County’s future leaders will grow up healthy, happy and ready for life’s challenges thanks in part to services they’ll receive at the Lighthouse for Children”.
