New Fresno County Sheriff’s Deputies Sworn In

Swearing In Ceremony

FRESNO (KMJ) — Almost 30 new Deputy Sheriff’s and Correctional Officers have been sworn into Fresno County Sheriff’s Department.

The event in the Veterans Memorial Aditorium in Downtown Fresno – all began with bagpipes.

“It feels great”, says newly sworn in Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Carpenter. “It’s a great accomplishment – it’s great to serve the community of the County of Fresno. If you don’t have the pride it shows – and if you don’t have the pride you don’t belong in this profession”.

“Pride is what you need to have. It carries and it shows out on the street and it shows in your work”.

As well as the new Sheriff’s Deputies and Correctional Officers – Fresno County Sheriff’s office gave promotions to four Deputies – with others given medals and commendations for their service.

Sheriff Mims gave a quick history of the Deputy’s time and why they were receiving the commendation. Families and friends were there too – and with each award the Sheriff and the Deputy stood still for a few moments so family members could come up and take pictures.

“Our profession is very stressful, and there’s a lot of responsibility, there’s a lot of work, and there’s a lot of training”, says Sheriff Mims. “Without our families and friends to support us it would be very very difficult to make it through that process.”

She adds that they’re now ramping up the hiring process – and if there’s anyone out there who wants to work in a position of responsibility – now’s the time to apply.
