The City of Fresno will be announcing a plan to bring Granite Park back to life.
Mayor Ashley Swearengin will join City Manager Bruce Rudd, and Councilmembers Paul Caprioglio and Lee Brand outside the vacant Granite Park sports complex Thursday, September 17th at noon to announce a new agreement with local developers Terance Frazier and T.J. Cox to renovate and operate the facility.
The park has gone through turmoil.
It first opened in 2005, but ran into financial problems.
The city tried to bail it out and ended up losing more than $5 million.
They tried to lease it to a nonprofit but that didn’t work.
Now, a second chance with a new name – with hopes of ridding the baggage associated with the moniker Granite Park.
The event will provide details on the development agreement, which will be presented to Fresno City Council at the next meeting on Thursday, September 24, 2015.
