Great Britain — led by new defense secretary John Healey — is taking more of a leadership role in the defense of Ukraine as the United States pulls back in Europe, The Times reported.
The Trump administration requested that Healey convene next week’s meeting of more than 50 nations at the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in Brussels, The Times reported. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will attend Wednesday’s meeting.
Healey, who was appointed secretary of state for defense last July, has visited Ukraine several times since, according to the report published Thursday.
