SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The California State Capitol building in Sacramento was evacuated Friday morning due to a bomb threat, officials said.
In an email, staff were told to work from home, while people there at the building were ordered to leave, confirmed by a staffer for state Sen. Susan Rubio (D-Baldwin Park).
The California Highway Patrol handles security at the capitol. and was looking into an emailed threat.
Governor Gavin Newsom is out of town.
It was a similar situation in 2023, when a suspicious package turned out to be harmless.
