FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — A Fresno police cadet is out of a job after being arrested on a weapons charge.
Fresno police officials say they were informed of 27-year-old Joshua Brown being investigated by the FBI in June.
Brown was hired by the department in September 2023 as a cadet.
Cadets are not official police officers and typically assist certified officers with hopes of becoming certified themselves.
He was taken into custody by the FBI on September 3 and booked into the Fresno County Jail on a federal weapons charge.
Brown has since been fired and is no longer employed by the city.
βThe Fresno Police Department takes its responsibility to those living and working in our city very seriously. Allegations of misconduct will be thoroughly investigated in an ongoing effort to build and maintain the trust of our community.β
–Interim Chief Mindy Casto
Following the arrest, two other department employees have been placed on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
