Reedley High Alum Malachi Rios Dies After Battle With Stage 4 Cancer, Family Confirms

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ/KFSN) — A recent graduate from Reedley High School has died after a battle with stage four cancer, according to his family.

On Monday night, Malachi Rios’ mother announced his passing in a Facebook post.

Earlier this year, Malachi went to Cancun, Mexico to a center that offers a holistic approach to treatment.

Family members say the treatment did not work and that his cancer spread.

Malachi was diagnosed in late 2022 with stage four testicular cancer that spread throughout his body.

He went into remission last May before the tumors returned a few months later.

GoFundMe account was set up to help the Rios family during Malachi’s cancer fight.

The Kings Canyon Unified family extends our heartfelt condolences to Malachi Rios’ family and friends as we all mourn the passing of this outstanding young man and true Pirate.

Grief counselors will be available for students and their families in the Pirate Helm at Reedley High School beginning today, July 9th, from 8:00 a.m. to noon, and every day thereafter as needed. To get in contact with a support staff member, please call (559) 305-7010.
