A busy weekend at Fresno State as the largest number of students in University history are set to begin class.

Classes begin Tuesday, but back-to-school preparations have started.

950 Students are moving into 9 residence halls on campus.

Erin Boele is the Director of Housing: “There’s just a ton of excitement, all the freshmen and new transfers coming in are excited to come in. Parents are a little nervous saying goodbye to their child, but otherwise its been a perfect day.”

On Tuesday, 23,882 students – the largest number in University history – will begin class in Fresno State’s 105th year.

“Well, we want them to feel comfortable, we want them to know we are here to support them.” University President Joseph Castro.

The campus is hosting a flurry of activities called FresWOW’s Weeks of Welcome.

“We kind of kick off the WOW week so it’s moving. We have events all weekend long, watermelon games, we do stuff at the pool, we have movie under the stars, and casino night, and then it starts into the school year events for “FresWOW” with the convocation events on Monday.”

Student John Styler, a Baggage Buddie, who helps new students move in, remembers his first days.

“Seemed like home to me, ever since I got here the first day, it seem like a warm and inviting place” – John Styler.
