(KMJ) – Former Fresno State basketball player Winfred “Wimp” Walton passed away Monday morning according to his family.
Walton played for Jerry Tarkanian at Fresno State during the 1997-98 season.
Walton was averaging 11 points and 6 rebounds per game, playing alongside Rafer Alston, Chris Herren, and Tremaine Fowlkes.
He was a McDonald’s All American in 1996 out of Detroit Pershing and signed with Jim Boeheim and Syracuse.
Following one college season, Walton declared for the 1998 NBA Draft but he went undrafted.
Wimp was regarded as one of the best hoopers to ever come of of Detroit.
