FRESNO, CA (KMJ) Brian Kelly’s reign as CEO of the controversial California High Speed Rail Project is coming to an end.
Kelly, who took over in 2018, handed in his official letter of resignation on Thursday.
In his resignation letter addressed to CAHSR Chair Tom Richards, Kelly said the Authority was in strong position to advance to the next stage of operations.
However, economists might disagree. Estimates suggest it will cost up to nearly $130 Billion to complete the entire system from LA to San Francisco and further funding is foggy – at best.
And, as we can see here in the Central Valley, a few overpasses have been built but not an inch of track has been laid.
“My goal when I took this position in 2018 was to help stabilize the organization and improve performance such that policymakers would once again consider investing in the project. While there is more work to do, this goal has largely been achieved,” Kelly’s letter reads in part.
