FRESNO, CA (KMJ) Francisco Portillo has been sentenced to 19 years, 4 months in state prison for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated which killed three people and injured five others.
In March of 2021 Portillo was recklessly driving a Chevy Camaro near First Street and McKinley Avenue. When a Deputy with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department attempted to stop him, he sped away reaching speeds of 100 mph.
A few seconds later, Portillo ran a red light at the intersection of Cedar and McKinley Avenues, slamming into multiple vehicles. Three vehicles were fully engulfed in flames.
Juan Montes Dominguez, Simranjit Kaur, and Navneet Kaur succumbed to injuries caused by the crash and five others were injured.
Portillo tested positive for alcohol and marijuana.
