MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) — Police tape and the Merced police crime scene response team unit are left at the scene where one person died.
Merced police say around 5 pm Sunday night, they received a call for a disturbance near D and East 11th streets.
“Officers arrived, located an individual who was in need of some medical assistance, some aid,” said Merced police detective, Alicia Gorman.
After arriving at the Sunny View Apartments, police found a woman dead.
“Shortly thereafter, they located another subject that has been involved into a homicide investigation that’s still ongoing,” said Detective Gorman.
Neighbors we spoke with who did not want to be on camera tell Action News there’s often police activity in the area.
“Sunny View, there’s quite a few incidents that happen over there,” said a Merced resident.
“It happens every other month or something. Something always happens, but the cops are always over there.”
“I’ve just seen police come in and out of here, that’s all.”
Police say as of right now, they do have a person of interest for questioning, but they are still processing the scene as they are in the early stages of the investigation.
They’re not yet ready to say how the victim died.
“We’ve executed a search warrant to locate any evidence that may be found in the location,” said Detective Gorman.
The investigation is still ongoing. If you have any information, you’re asked to call Merced police.
