UPDATE: Hiker, 76, Missing In Sequoia National Park is FOUND

UPDATE: The Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks announced Monday that missing hiker Bill Roberts has been located in Sequoia National Park. Roberts is in good health and is being reunited with his family.

(KMJ) — The National Park Service is turning to the community for help Sunday after a 76-year-old hiker has been reported missing.

According to the Park Service, Bill Roberts was last seen walking through Golden Trout Wilderness in the Inyo National Forest on August 9.

His plans were to travel north down John Muir Trail and meet with his family at Bullfrog Lake in Sequoia National Park on August 12. But Bill never arrived.

The Park Service says his family was monitoring his travel through the park using a tracker and was last registered near the western ridgeline at Caltech Peak in Sequoia National Park.

Bill is described as a White, slim man who is six feet one inch tall with gray hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a large orange and black pack with a brown and black shirt. He was also carrying trekking poles and has a fully gray beard.
