(KMJ) – One of the U.S Air Force’s once-classified fighters is now on its way to join the collection of Castle Air Museum in Atwater.
A Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk Stealth Fighter is now en route to the site and is due to arrive around 8 a.m. Friday morning under escort from the Highway Patrol.
This aircraft is known for being the first to fly at night over Baghdad, Iraq during Operation Desert Storm back in 1991. And Castle Air Museum is the only one site receiving this type of aircraft in Northern California.
After it arrives, the F-117 will undergo restoration before joining the museum’s expansive collection.
