FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Fresno PD’s new Gang Suppression Team arrests a 46-year-old man suspected of homicide in West Central Fresno.
A press conference was held Friday by Fresno’s Police Chief Paco Balderrama to release more details on the Fresno gang member who was arrested Thursday for the homicide of a 43-year old man on Wednesday.
43-year-old Michael Hartley had been shot on Wednesday night, around 10 pm in the parking lot of the Palace Inn, near Parkway Drive and Olive Avenue.
Hartley was rushed to CRMC, where he later died despite the life-saving efforts on scene by first responders
Witnesses described Tello to detectives, which helped in his capture.
“We had two members of our newly-formed (Fresno Police Department’s) gang suppression team or GST, they were in the area. They were able to locate 46-year-old gang member Abel Tello near the vicinity – matched the description, and upon arrival of our detectives we were able to make the case against this individual for the homicide,” said Fresno Police Chief Paco Balderrama.
Tello, an Eastside Fresno Bulldog gang member, has been booked into the Fresno County Jail for Fresno’s 52nd homicide of year.
Police say this is still an active investigation, and they are asking anyone with information to please contact the Fresno Police Department.
