FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Police reform…it’s a hot topic across the country, and in Fresno.
The Fresno Police Reform Commission wants to hear your opinion as it makes recommendations to the City of Fresno and the Police Department.
In response to local and national demands for changes in policing, the City of Fresno and the Commission for Police Reform are announcing a public outreach campaign.
The idea is to gather input from residents on different aspects of police operations, procedures and policies.
The Sociology Department at Fresno State helped with an anonymous, on-line survey with questions about respondents’ views, experiences, and opinions about policing in Fresno to improve public safety for the whole city.
The survey takes 10 minutes to complete, and is available in English, Spanish, Hmong, Punjabi and Arabic. Individuals who complete the survey will be able to reply with their comments in a text box following each question. The survey has a time limit for completion and will only allow one submission from the same IP address.
The Community Input Sub-Committee of the Commission has created a website at www.fresno-cpr.com.
The commission will use the responses to help identify reform recommendations to the City Council for consideration.
