FRESNO, CA. (KMJ) — The USGS is reporting a magnitude 5.8 earthquake shook around 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday.
Initially USGS reported a 6.0 magnitude quake, centered near Lone Pine on the east side of the Sierras.
The quake centered in Inyo County, about 15- 20 miles south east of Lone Pine.
Seismologist Dr. Lucy Jones said the quake’s location in the Owens Valley is the same location as a M4.6 two nights ago.
Dr. Jones says that is now considered a foreshock, and many aftershocks are expected to follow.
There have been smaller aftershocks reported of 3.6, 3.1, and 2.5.
No immediate reports of injuries were reported.
