SACRAMENTO, CA (KMJ) – Governor Gavin Newsom releases a roadmap to reopen but not yet a firm date.
Gov. Newsom along with governors of Oregon and Washington are working together to open up the West Coast.
On a day with a record number of corona virus deaths, 758, California’s Governor said he is soberly aware of the ramifications of re-opening the state.
In his daily update on Tuesday, Gov. Newsom said there are 6 key areas of focus that he revealed is the framework.
The most important factor, Newsom said, is testing for COVID 19, the second, protecting the vulnerable;seniors, at risk and the homeless from infection.
Gov. Newson spoke of the need for hospitals to be able to handle a surge with infrastructure, medical staff, and PPE ready,
He continued by explaining the need to develop therapeutics with research partners, companies like Gilead and Genetec.
Newsom wants to ensure that schools, child care facilities and businesses can operate while maintaining necessary distancing.
His final note was the ability as the state leans in – to lean back out again, and shut back down if the virus flares up again.
“We are not out of the woods, yet,” said Gov. Newsom.
Governor Gavin Newsom’s stay-at-home order has kept 40 million residents at home, shut down many businesses and saw two million people filing for unemployment.
