FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Fresno State University cancels commencement ceremonies due to the coronavirus.
Students in Fresno and across the nation are taking the hit, becoming collateral damage victims from the novel coronavirus.
Schools across the country are already canceling classes, now Fresno State is just one university that’s going to have to tell its graduating students there will be no commencement.
Fresno State’s President Joseph Castro says the university made the decision after receiving guidance from public health officials.
Dr. Castro says there could be alternative arrangements for graduation.
Online courses continue for the rest of the semester.
The University hopes to see students be able to return in person by mid April but that depends on the containment of the virus.
