FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Two juveniles have been arrested by Fresno Police for the city’s first homicide of 2020.
On January 8th, officers responded to a call on E. Tyler and N Fifth Street.
That’s where they found 17 year old Christyan Roberts and 18 year old Dezon Cheatham suffering from gunshot wounds.
Cheatham, found inside his car was pronounced dead on the scene.
Roberts was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Cheatham, was just one month away from leaving for the US ARMY in February.
Roberts was a youth leader at his church.
Police said Cheatham and Roberts have no gang ties and were not armed during the shooting.
Detectives arrested a 16-year-old and a 14-year-old for the murder.
On Friday, January 17, 2020, the Homicide Unit executed a search warrant in connection with this case in the City of Fresno.
At the search warrant location, two male juveniles who reside there were arrested for the murder of Cheatham and the shooting of Roberts.
The juveniles are related to one another and are residents of Fresno.
Both teens were booked into the Juvenile Justice Center for a number of felony charges including murder, assault with a deadly weapon,
At this time, Fresno PD is not releasing a motive for the shooting.
