The center of Southern California’s latest winter storm is staying well out to sea and forecasters have greatly scaled back expectations for rain and snow.
Only light snowfall or flurries were seen early Monday in the mountain passes north and east of Los Angeles, and Interstates 5 and 15 remain open.
The National Weather Service still has a winter weather advisory in effect for the San Bernardino Mountains through 4:00 p.m. Monday, but it appears the region will avoid a repeat of the holiday travel nightmare that occurred when a massive snowstorm hit on Christmas night.
Forecasters are turning attention to the development of gusty Santa Ana winds.
