FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Detectives in Fresno County have arrested the man they say stole a shotgun at a gas station in Sanger.
On Tuesday, December 3rd, property crimes detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office arrested 34 year old Khamphanh Srimala of Fresno.
Thanks to tips from the public who saw those images, detectives were able to identify and track down Srimala.
The alleged crime took place back on September 27 at U & A Mini Mart on Highway 180 and Academy Avenue.
The gun’s owner had just finished a hunting trip and placed it in the back of his truck.
The driver entered the store and purchased some drinks.
According to surveillance video, just after 4:00 am two men in a dark blue, older model, four-door Honda car pulled up to a gas pump.
The driver then got out of the car, reached into the bed of the truck and took a shotgun which was stored inside of a case.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said he is now in Jail, facing felony charges of grand theft of a firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
His bail is $110,000.
