HANFORD, CA (KMJ) – A crowdfunding page has been set up to help raise money for the family of fallen Lemoore Police Officer Jonathan Diaz.
On November 2, 32-year-old Ramiro Trevino Jr., a Kings County welfare fraud investigator, was at a house party on Eddy Street near Lacey Blvd for his father’s birthday.
The Kings County Sheriff’s Office says Tevino Jr. started to fight with his girlfriend.
Lemoore Police Officer Jonathan Diaz got in the middle of the fight to break it up and make sure the girlfriend got out of the house to safety.
Deputies said Trevino Jr. reportedly was not ready to end the fight and instead armed himself with several guns and began to shoot.
Trevino Jr. hit and killed off-duty Lemoore police officer Diaz and seriously injured his father before shooting himself with his own gun, deputies say.
The Hanford Police Officers’ Association and the Lemoore Police Officers’ Association set up the fundraiser through the Fund a Hero program.
