DINUBA, CA (KMJ) – A 52-year-old man is arrested for the kidnapping and rape of a woman earlier this month.
Dinuba Police arrested Fernando Velasquez Cruz on Saturday, September 21.
They say the crime took place on on September 5, 2019.
Two days later, on Sept. 7, a woman told police about the attack.
She told police she had been walking near a recycling center at sunset in downtown Dinuba.
She said Cruz grabbed her, put a knife to her neck and pulled her into his vehicle.
The victim told police Cruz took her to an orchard in the Sultana area and sexually assaulted her.
She said he then drove her back to Dinuba, and dropped her off in the same area.
Cruz has been booked into the Tulare County Jail on charges of kidnapping, rape, and assault with a deadly weapon.
Police identified his vehicle then took him into custody in the 1300 block of South O Street.

Police believed Cruz had solicited other women.
