Fired Worker Arrested For Murder of Tulare Co. Dairyman

TULARE COUNTY, CA (KMJ) – The Tulare County Sheriff announces an arrest in the murder of dairy farmer, shot outside his property near Visalia.

Sheriff Mike Boudreaux  said around 2:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, his office got the call of shots fired.

Deputies responding found 56-year old Anthony Dragt lying in the roadway on the 10,000 block of Avenue 352. He had been shot dead.

Sheriff Boudreaux says 26-year-old Jorge Rivera, a worker who had been fired from the dairy, was seen on surveillance video from other dairies nearby, and is considered the sole gunman.

“Witnesses confirm that Jorge, at the scene, shooting into the vehicle of our victim as he lay on the ground, walked over, stood over the top of him and fired rounds into him and killing him, said Sheriff Boudreaux, during a press conference on Wednesday at Tulare County Sheriff’s headquarters.

Sheriff Boudreaux said Rivera was later caught on Tuesday with multiple weapons in his vehicle, and arrested for Dragt’s homicide.

Rivera has a prior record for drug charges in Arizona.
