CLOVIS, CA (KMJ) – A wanted parolee’s workout is cut short, after he is taken down by a Clovis Police K-9 after trying to escape from a Health Club.
Just after 8:00 Tuesday night, Clovis Police received a tip that 35-year-old John Mata was working out inside Planet Fitness near Clovis and Shaw.
Clovis Police said the Fresno gang member, had previously been in a police chase.
As officers approached, Mata tried to hide behind a weight machine, then ran out the back door, only to be met by K-9 Jax.
After a very short foot chase, K-9 Jax caught up and held Mata until officers could catch up.
Mata was arrested and immediately treated for his injuries he sustained from the K-9.
After being treated at the hospital, he was later booked into the Fresno County Jail on a parole warrant and resisting arrest.
