RIVERSIDE, CA (KMJ) – A public memorial service was held for CHP Officer Andre Moye Jr. who was killed in the line of duty.
“Andre’s field training officers knew he was special, and immediately noticed his passion for law enforcement,” said CHP Captain John Tyler. “His work ethic was unparalleled, like a burning fire that could not be extinguished.”

Hundreds of law enforcement personnel from agencies throughout the state came to Riverside to be at Monday’s 10 a.m service at Harvest Christian Fellowship, followed by a private burial.
Just before 8:00 a.m., the casket was escorted from a mortuary to the church by a solemn procession of CHP and police vehicles and motorcycles.

Officer Moye Jr. had served with the highway patrol for 3-1/2 years, making an impact on his colleagues.
He died on August 12, when he was shot and killed by a driver, 49-year-old Aaron Luther, while impounding a vehicle in Riverside. The Vagos motorcycle gang member also wounded two other officers during the gun battle on a freeway near Los Angeles.
During the ceremony, Moye Jr. was remembered by his step-brother, Officer Michael Solorio.
“Andre has shaped the man that I am today,” said Officer Solorio. “There are no words, actions or even speeches that would define how grateful I am. I was able to experience 21 years of valuable life lessons and true camaraderie with him.”
At the end of the ceremony, Moye’s badge was presented to his wife, Sara.
