FRESNO (KMJ) – Police Chief Jerry Dyer is reacting to events in Gilroy, talking about how to prevent mass-shootings in Fresno.
Grizzlyfest is a big crowd event that comes to Fresno once a year, it attracted 15 thousand in 2018.

“It’s not always about the problems that may occur with the people who attend, in terms of disturbances, but that we have a responsibility as a law enforcement agency, to protect those individuals who do attend, from something like this,” Dyer said.
dyer says video policing is important to keeping the public safe at crowded events.
as well as allowing law enforcement to monitor social media, looking for threats ahead of time.
“That has to be done by law enforcement, and again, some of the organizations like the ACLU has prevented law enforcement from having some of those very effective tools in place,” Dyer said.
