FRESNO (KMJ) – Fresno police are looking for help in catching whoever is responsible for a shooting that left a small child hospitalized.
Detectives are investigating a drive-by shooting that wounded a five-year-old boy while he was sitting in the backseat of his mother’s car.
Officers were called to the area of North winery and East Yale Avenues around eight o’clock Monday night.
“Officers were able to locate 25 shell casings,” police chief Jerry Dyer said.
Police Chief Jerry Dyer says the boy’s mother took him to Community Regional Medical Center, where he is reported to be in in guarded but stable condition.
“I gotta believe that someone out there has information regarding this shooting and if they’re not willing to provide information that would help us determine who shot a five year old in our city last night, then I don’t know how they sleep at night,” Dyer said.
Dyer says it could have been a gang-related shooting, but have no information on possible suspects at this time.
