FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A Valley man continues to recover at CRMC after being struck by a Fresno County Sheriff’s vehicle.
It happened around midnight on Highway 99 near the 180 in Downtown Fresno.
The California Highway Patrol says the 66-year-old man was collecting cans on the side of the freeway when he was hit by the cruiser.
CHP Sergeant Lenny Sherman says the pedestrian was off to the side of the road, and “the deputy, once he realized what had happened, backed up immediately, and started rendering aide, and then called for an ambulance and fire truck so he got very prompt medical attention because of it.”
Sgt. Sherman says the man who was hit is expected to be okay — but the Highway Patrol continues to investigate this incident.
