VISALIA, CA – Tulare County Animal Services announces it has recently received a $28,687 grant from PetSmart Charities, the leading funder of animal welfare in North America, to help fuel its spay and neuter efforts in Tulare County. With the help of the grant, Tulare County Animal Services is offering spay and neuter assistance for owned pets in Tulare County.
“Tulare County Animal Services is extremely grateful to PetSmart Charities for this spay and neuter grant,” says Animal Services Division Manager Patrick Hamblin. “Tulare County has a pet overpopulation problem, and this grant will allow us to assist with the spaying and neutering of 441 animals for our residents.”
Tulare County has a high population of homeless pets, many who end up in local animal shelters. Spaying and neutering is a proven, effective way to keep animal population numbers limited. This grant will subsidize 441 spay and/or neuter surgeries for owned pets of all Tulare County residents. There is a limit of two subsidized surgeries per resident or address.
PetSmart Charities aims to proactively prevent pet homelessness. Since 1994, the organization has granted more than $100 million to support spay and neuter efforts across the United States.
