FRESNO (KMJ) — After being name-checked in a lawsuit against Twitter, the account @DevinCow has rapidly grown in popularity.
The user was one of five defendants listed in a complaint filed by Congressman Devin Nunes. It alleges that the social media giant was engaged in censorship, shadow-banning conservatives, and refusing to regulate itself (click here to read more).
The $250 million lawsuit describes @DevinCow as “a person who, with Twitter’s consent, created and maintains an account on Twitter for the sole purpose of attacking and defaming Nunes.”
Statistics show that the account had approximately 5,500 followers on Monday, the day the lawsuit was filed. That number has risen exponentially since then, amounting to more than 435,000 followers Wednesday morning. The follower number on account @DevinNunes remains at approximately 395,000.
KMJ News reached out to Twitter for a response to the original lawsuit. In a statement, the social media company wrote “we’re not commenting at this time.”
