FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A young Fresno father of two is killed, the victim’s father makes a plea for witnesses to come forward.
22-year-old Andrew Valdez lost his life on February 2nd, but police don’t know why he was shot.
His father, Alejandro Lopez, hopes that witnesses contact Fresno Police, speaking during a news conference at Fresno Police Headquarters on Thursday.
Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer says it happened at 1:47 a.m. at a party at 3245 N. Maple Ave.
They’ve since arrested a 21-year old suspect, a Bulldog gang member with the same last name, but Christopher Valdez is no relation to his victim.
Dyer says the two men were acquaintances and were hanging out at the party when for some unknown reason, Christopher Valdez began firing multiple rounds at Andrew, then fled.
On February 8th detectives served five search warrants, and were able to seize evidence including cell phones leading them to Christopher Valdez.
Christopher Valdez, the alleged gunman has a history of robbery, drugs, and firearms, say police, and is a on parole for robbery.
Valdez has been booked into the Fresno County Jail.
The Fresno Police Department now hopes to make a solid murder case against him.
