CARUTHERS (KMJ) — Detectives are searching for suspects after a string of armed robberies in Caruthers and Laton. The first incident was reported November 14th and the last reported December 3rd.

“Their descriptions all match,” explained Fresno County Sheriff’s Office’s Tony Botti.

“All of the robberies follow the same method with reckless behavior. They come in, masked up, hooded sweatshirts. They have a knife in one case, they usually have at least one handgun, and they’re very quick about it.”

Botti said they demand money from the register and sometimes ask for alcohol and cigarettes.

The first business to be hit was the Valero gas station at 2459 W. Tahoe Avenue in Caruthers on November 14th, followed by the Caruthers Market at 2290 W. Tahoe Avenue in Caruthers on November 16th, then the Cargo Market at 20952 S. Elm Avenue in Laton on November 18th, the Valero gas station a second time on November 29th, the Caruthers Market a second time on December 2nd, and the final incident was at the Dollar General Store at 13428 S. Henderson Road on December 3rd.

Both suspects are described as being Hispanic. One is approximately 5’6″ and 160 lbs. The other is approximately 6’2″ and 180 lbs.

“There’s a good chance that they’re out on the streets bragging to people, to their friends” said Botti.

“Maybe they’ll find that one of these people is not their friend and they’re willing to roll on them.”
