FRESNO (KMJ) — A total of $1 million in state money has been handed over to Fresno City College to help enhance the facility’s Career and Technical Education program.
The giant check was awarded Tuesday morning and is designed to train up to 100 more CTE students every year. The funds will be used to purchase robots, welding simulators, software and other equipment.
“There are jobs out there and we can no longer continue to have Fresno lag behind the rest of the nation when everyone else is enjoying economic prosperity,” said the college’s President Dr. Carole Goldsmith.
The money was allocated in this year’s California budget, to help boost local job training and career opportunities.
“What you’ll see is our community starting to stand up, and our community starting to benefit from these investments that we have today, because these jobs are good jobs,” announced Assemblymember Joaquin Arambula.
“They’re jobs that turn benefits, they’re jobs that give you a living wage, they’re an opportunity for our community to thrive.”
