FRESNO (KMJ) — A new Amtrak train service from Fresno to Sacramento has made its first run.
The early morning express departed Monday, and it is described as a game-changer for access to the California’s capitol. The 701 northbound is scheduled to leave Fresno every weekday at 4.25am, and arrive in Sacramento at 7.40am.
“A way to get to Sacramento in the early morning time, for business travel as well as same-day leisure travel,” explained David Lipari with the San Joaquin Joint Powers Authority.
The earliest service on the previous timetable saw rail passengers traveling from Fresno arrive in Sacramento around 11.20am.
“A game-changer in terms of the way people access the Sacramento market and not having to do so by car.”
