FRESNO (KMJ) — Downtown Fresno’s Fulton Street is in the running for a $25,000 prize, but needs your help to succeed.
The local road, which re-opened in October following a $20 million renovation, has been named as one of 25 quarter-finalists in the “America’s Main Streets” competition.
“We are in our third year of the contest and are so happy to see the passion and pride these nominees have for their Main Streets and the local businesses that keep them alive,” detailed Independent We Stand co-founder Bill Brunelle; the group describes itself as a nationwide movement of independent small business owners.
“Now it’s time for consumers to show their support and vote again to move their favorites into the semifinals.”
Of the 25 quarter-finalists, only one other is in California: Benicia Main Street in Solano County.
The contest is now open for the public’s vote, and those with the most will move up into the semi-finals. The eventual winner will receive the $25,000 prize.
