FRESNO (KMJ) — A former Fresno student, who allegedly threatened his old school with gun violence, is now facing a felony charge.
The post on Facebook came to the attention of officials at Cambridge High School on Friday. It read “finna cop a ar-15 see y’all at Cambridge tomorrow.”
“The student resource officer began investigating that post and was able to determine who made that original post, which was an 18 year old named Asante Freeman,” explained Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer.
“He actually graduated from Cambridge High School last year.”
Chief Dyer detailed that replies to the original post tried to get the suspect to take the post down, warning him that Fresno Police will track him down.
“In fact he made a comment that the police weren’t even going to do anything about it, which we obviously proved to be wrong because we did follow up on it.
“We interviewed him and even though he said he was only joking it was a true threat.”
Freeman was charged with making felony criminal threats. He faces a maximum sentence of four years behind bars.
