Woman Out On Bail Arrested For Trying To Smuggle Cocaine Into Jail

FRESNO (KMJ) — A woman is now facing charges of attempting to smuggle cocaine into Fresno County Jail, while already out on bail.

Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said Ashley Farmer tried on Wednesday to sneak the contraband inside a package destined for her incarcerated boyfriend Richard Langdon.

“She gave that package to correctional officers to deliver to Langdon,” explained Fresno County Sheriff’s Office’s Tony Botti.

“As part of normal protocol, our officers always go through any mail or packages that they get. During that time they found 12 small baggies inside the package and it turned out to be cocaine.”

The 32 year old had already left the jail site, but she was found at her home in Clovis and arrested.

“Pretty bold on her part to walk in and hand deliver this thinking our officers weren’t going to look into a little bit more before they handed it over to her boyfriend who was in one of our jail cells,” added Botti.

Ashley Farmer was later placed behind bars, and is now facing charges of smuggling narcotics into jail, possession of narcotics for sale and committing a crime while out on bail. Robert Langdon also has a charge of conspiracy added to his booking record.
