CLOVIS (KMJ) — The rumored closure of a Clovis Salvation Army site is “not happening” according to a charity official.
Major Carole Abella with the Fresno Citadel Corps categorically denied the suggestion, but admitted that “financial needs” may have started the rumors about the family service center at 210 Barstow Avenue.
“Because of some changes financially we are evaluating our processes, evaluating everything that we do, to operate as efficiently as possible.”
It comes at a time of year when the charity is serving a lot of people.
“It’s much busier for us at Christmas,” revealed Major Abella. “You see that we’re helping really thousands of families.”
But the need does not just come at the holiday season.
“The Salvation Army continues to serve families and individuals throughout Fresno County and in Clovis really all year round.
“There are people who come to us in need for food, they come to us because they can’t pay their utility bills, they come to us because they have spiritual needs, they come to us because they have physical needs.
“Sometimes it’s just a listening ear.”
Salvation Army officials continue to ask for volunteer ringers. More information on how you can help out can be found clicking here.
