FRESNO (KMJ) — After what is now considered the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history, lines are growing outside Las Vegas’ blood donation centers as residents do whatever they can to help.

However, officials with the Central California Blood Center have been told that there are enough supplies there to cover the immense demand.

“United Blood Services and American Red Cross, the two local blood service providers in the Las Vegas region, are able to meet the trauma and emergency needs as a result of the really tragic incident,” reveals the nonprofit’s Leslie Botos.

It is alleged that 64 year old Stephen Paddock was the person responsible for the shooting Sunday night, which killed at least 58 people and injured hundreds more.

“Our blood center, as other blood centers in the country, are standing ready to help as needed.”

But Botos adds that the local need for blood remains.

“In our area, what is most needed right now for the local crises that we experience every day, is those blood donors who have O- blood type.”

Donation centers in Fresno can be found at 4343 Herndon Ave, 1196 E. Shaw (Suite 102), and 1010 E. Perrin. Both are open between 9am and 6pm.

The blood center in Visalia on 1515 S. Mooney Boulevard is also open between 9am and 6pm.
