FRESNO (KMJ) — Local country music star Kevin Blake Willard has passed away after a car crash on Tuesday. News of the collision was followed by an outpouring of emotion online.
“If you look on any social media right now, you’ll see the impact he had,” explains Jody Jo from KMJ’s sister station 93.7 Kiss Country.
“I cannot scroll through my page on Facebook, or go through Twitter or Instagram and not see somebody saying how much they’re going to miss him, or say how sorry they are, or that they impacted his life.”
Kevin Willard is described as someone who would perform anywhere, especially if it was for a good cause.
“In California in the early 2000s he was on the national scene, but he was considered ‘California country’,” reveals fellow host Gnarley Charley.
“It was Kevin Willard and the Cadillac Cowboys – big deal…he never turned down an opportunity to help somebody out. If it was Children’s Hospital or somebody needed to raise money – Kevin was there, with his band, and he would play for you.”
