Police Searching For Suspects After Deadly Central Fresno Shooting

FRESNO (KMJ) — A suspect is yet to be identified following an early morning homicide in Central Fresno.

Officers were alerted to shots being fired at around 4.30am, and a man was found with serious injuries at Glenn and Harvard Avenues. Medical equipment was seen strewn around a blue SUV, which was left in the middle of the intersection.

“Officers arrived, made contact with the male shooting victim, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds,” explained Fresno Police Sergeant Andre Benson.

“They attempted medical treatment. The male was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he later is pronounced deceased. At this time we have homicide investigators on scene and we’re attempting to identify who the subjects are responsible for this shooting.”

The victim has been identified as 33 year old Raul Cruz (also known as Rodolfo Cruz). He was driving to his job as a field worker at the time. There is currently no suggestion that the incident was gang related.

“We’re asking for the public’s help,” continued Sergeant Benson. “Anyone with any information at all in regards to this shooting, we’re asking that they please come forward with information.”

The shooting marks the 35th homicide within the City of Fresno.
