FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A nearly $7 million narcotics bust was made earlier this week by Fresno County Sheriff’s detectives. Members of the High-Intensity Drug-Trafficking Area Team (HIDTA) worked undercover to seize 4.4 pounds of heroin.
“We discovered that it included fentanyl as well as ketamine in the heroin,” said Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims on Friday. “Fentanyl has been responsible for many deaths and overdoses across our nation.”

Sheriff Mims said it’s the first time her detectives have been able to seize a load coming into the area that had fentanyl in it. She said the drugs originated from the Los Angeles area. Detectives had to handle the packaged product in hazmat suits because the fentanyl-laced heroin is so dangerous – potentially fatal.
