FRESNO (KMJ) — Fire season is upon us here in the valley and with the willow fire continuing to burn – it’s all the important to know what to do.
Everyone who lives in the small mountain communities that surround Shaver Lake and Huntington Lake are being invited to big creek this evening for a town hall meeting on what to do during a wildfire.
“I want them to know what to have pre-packed and ready to go if it’s an immediate evacuation”, says Chief of the Big Creek Volunteer Fire Department Ladonna Crane. “I want them to know what to do with their pets, how to handle those issues”.
Fresno County Sheriff, CalFire, and the U.S. Forest Service will all be there.
“With the lack of water, we all have to conserve”, continues Crane. “So of course yards aren’t green any more and we need to know how to get out of town safely if a fire happens and we have those mono winds blowing and the fire is creeping up the canyon faster than we can attack it”.
The meeting takes place in the clubhouse on Spruce avenue in Big Creek, just after the intersection with Poplar Avenue. Link to the specific location Google Maps can be found here.
The meeting takes place Monday July 27th at 5.30pm.
