FRESNO (KMJ) — Free pizza has been delivered to fire stations across the Central Valley to mark Thursday’s International Firefighters’ Day.
Locally based business Me-n-Ed’s handed over almost a hundred pizzas to hungry crews.
“It’s more than a meal,” says the firm’s Tom Ferdinandi. “It’s a way we can show our appreciation and support as a company alongside our community.”
The free lunch was received at Northwest Fresno’s Station 12 by Captain Dan Montag.
“It’s an honor that people recognize firefighters and the service they give. A lot of us got into this at a young age because we want to help people.
“It’s nice, although completely unnecessary, it’s nice to see people that people recognize us and the work that we do.”
International Firefighters’ Day is observed every year on May 4th; it’s designed to honor the sacrifices crews make and celebrate their dedication. You can find out more about the day clicking here.
